Way of St James

The story goes that the remains of the Apostle James passed through the Torres de Oeste on their way to Santiago de Compostela, as shown by the chapel still preserved in his honor within the grounds.

Catoira has two routes of the Way of St. James: one by sea, the Jacobean route of the Sea of Arousa and River Ulla, and another by land, the route of Father Sarmiento.
